Queen City Shootout is returning to Whisky River

Charlotte, NC (May 5, 2010) – Winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing. Coined by coaching legend, and Asheville native, Red Sanders in the 1950s, the phrase has become synonymous with all forms of sport. However, it arguably best describes the world of Texas Hold ‘Em poker. On Wednesday, May 26, the wildly popular card game is coming to uptown Charlotte as Whisky River hosts the second annual Queen City Shootout.

Created by Jennifer Basara with The Basara Company, this star-studded event will pit the area’s most cunning poker minds against current NFL players, NASCAR drivers and other local celebrities all competing for the grand prize – a paid seat at the World Series of Poker Tournament Main Event in Las Vegas. Celebrities schedule to appear the Queen City Shootout include Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski, Jason White, Jonathan Stewart, Dante Rosario, Jon Beason and Boris Diaw.

Whisky River and Suite will both host tables for the Queen City Shootout, with the final tables at Whisky River. Registration for the tournament will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the tournament beginning promptly at 5:30 p.m.

Individual tickets are $275 each and can be purchased at Spectators are welcome to the event, with tickets available for $125 apiece. Those accompanying tournament participants can purchase companion tickets for $75.
