The EpiCentre renovations continue with a holiday makeover

CHARLOTTE, NC (December 3, 2012)– The renovation of EpiCentre extends into the holiday season with a décor makeover and a daily occurrence featuring special holiday magic.

Imagine wandering through the heart of Uptown’s shopping and entertainment hub. Where you a beautifully decorated 30-feet tree covered with white LED snowflakes. The tree is accented with blue, silver and custom-built EpiCentre logo marks which are draped on the branches. It’s 5 p.m., and something starts falling from the sky like magic. It’s snow!

This holiday experience is included in the renovations inspired by the new owner’s vision to elevate the look and feel of the property.

“All year, we’ve been adding events and special features that create additional reasons to visit EpiCentre during the day. The new décor and snow fall feature is an extension of that strategy,” said Director of Business Development and Public Relations Ed Camp.

“We wanted to add a new holiday tradition to the Uptown Charlotte experience, creating family-oriented events and other early evening programs,” he added.

In addition to the tree filled with LED ornaments, the new Valet Stand will be decked with a garland treatment made from structured aluminum and LED lights.

“The new décor at the ties in with the overall feel of our holiday plan, and foreshadows other treatments to come in the years ahead,” Camp said.

EpiCentre is located at the corners of 4th & College Streets and College & Trade Streets in Uptown Charlotte.

EpiCentre is the Southeast’s hub for dining, entertainment, recreation, nightlife and hospitality.
CHARLOTTE, NC – Every month new and exciting events are happening at the EpiCentre, making it the ultimate destination Uptown. Live music, art and family friendly events are not in short supply this fall.

With the Charity Fair Holiday Edition, kicking off the schedule of events on Saturday, Nov. 17, this event features several local non-profits and local arts organizations. The all day event is held in the Commons area inside of the EpiCentre and everyone is welcome to come and participate.

The same day, Kid’s Club Central and Radio Disney are ‘Getting Ready!’ for the holidays with children’s crafts and more. Santa will make a special appearance including a free photo shoot with families, and children can create their own special gifts to give to family and friends.

The Angel Tree Toy Donation Drive is also kicking off Saturday, Nov. 17, with the Salvation Army and running until Dec. 8. Pick a donation card off the Angel Tree; each card lists the need of a child this holiday season. Once the request has been fulfilled return the gift to BlackFinn, where the Salvation Army will then give the child their gift.

Beginning on Friday, Nov. 30, Reindeer Games Contest takes over social media! Santa’s reindeer are lost in the EpiCentre and the way to find Santa’s helpers is by using clues located on EpiCentre’s social media. A prize is then awarded to each person who finds a reindeer. The overall grand prize is $500 and each contestant who finds a reindeer wins a coupon pack filled with special offers from EpiCentre businesses, including but not limited to free lunches, movie passes and more!

Also on Friday, Nov. 30, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. concludes the scheduled events when ACC Fan Central takes over the EpiCentre. Fans will work into frenzy as the two ACC schools get ready to battle for the ACC Football Championship on Saturday, Dec. 1.

Next event to be hosted at the EpiCentre Pavilion from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm on Thursday, September 20.

Charlotte, North Carolina —The EpiCentre has teamed up with Project Art Aid to support the

latest “Queen City Soup” micro-grant dinner on September 21st in Charlotte, NC. Project Art Aid, a community

based arts organization, is hosting this series of community dinners to fund micro-grants for local artists. The

event will feature a simple meal as way for the local community to engage with representatives of the arts

community.

While enjoying a simple meal served family style, Queen City Soup guests will meet “Ambassadors of the Arts,”

local artists who live and work in the Greater Charlotte area. Guests will also hear 5 proposals from local artists

who have submitted ideas for creative projects to benefit the city of Charlotte. At the end of the meal, guests

will vote for which creative project should win the money collected from the ticket sales. 100 diners provides a

micro-grant of $1000, awarded on the spot to the winning artist.

July’s Queen City Soup event resulted in a $780 micro-grant awarded to Jose Vazquez, a local artist who is

using the micro-grant to fund a photography and videography exhibit exploring homelessness in Charlotte. Mr.

Vazquez will provide an update on the project during the September event.

“Organizing casual community dinners to fund micro-grants for local causes is a proven low-cost idea that yields

high impact results” said Ben Weiner, Queen City Soup’s Program Director. “Local artists have an abundance of

ideas for the community, and the community in Charlotte has shown that they want to support the arts, we just

put the two of them together over a meal, and great things happen!”

Further information about the event, including the grant proposal and registration for the September

event is available at www.projectartaid.org. Tickets for the event are $10 per person.
