Vida Boasts Restaurant Industry All-Stars

O’Brien and Swinyard team up to create Center City’s first Mexican restaurant

Vida Mexican Kitchen y Cantina is bringing traditional, old-world-style Mexican cuisine to uptown Charlotte this summer. The concept was designed by Chris Swinyard and Sean O’Brien, two veterans of the Charlotte dining scene.

For over a decade, O’Brien has served as Managing Partner at the Capital Grille, a restaurant renowned for its first-class atmosphere and impeccable service. Under O’Brien’s watch Capital Grille Charlotte won multiple awards for operations and service and when creating the blueprint for Vida, O’Brien instilled those same values.

“Creating an inviting atmosphere and providing memorable guest experiences will be two of our primary goals at Vida,” said O’Brien, who serves as Operating Partner.

On the food side, Swinyard has spent over 20 years honing his culinary skills at establishments such as Red Sage in Washington, DC, Mestena Restaurant in San Antonio and Dean and Deluca in New York City. In crafting the Vida menu, Swinyard has traveled extensively, learning proper techniques used in traditional, old-world style Mexican cooking.

“This is the type of cuisine I love to create,” said Swinyard, Executive Chef. “I can’t wait to share these dishes with our guests at Vida.”

Opening this summer, Vida Mexican Kitchen y Cantina is Center City Charlotte’s first Mexican restaurant and tequila bar offering traditional, regional and contemporary cuisine in the heart of the vibrant uptown scene at the EpiCentre. At Vida, bold, deliciously unexpected flavors are presented with refreshing style, alongside signature “Skinny Margaritas,” handcrafted cocktails and an extensive list of tequilas.  With its warm, inviting atmosphere, specialty Mexican fare, hospitality and impeccable service, Vida Mexican Kitchen y Cantina offers a distinctive experience for its guests.
